Created during a residency programme at PADA Studios in the summer 2019, this installation explores the relationship between canvas, used as painting support, and the architecture of the industrial landscape of Barreiro (Portugal). Barreiro was once home to a large industrial corporation that no longer exists. Currently, the city is surrounded by the remains of an old industrial park, whose historical complexes also include a former paint factory. It is a massive network of decaying concrete buildings, resulting as the perfect setting for site-specific interventions by local artists and PADA residents. The paintings were installed inside the windows of some buildings scattered around the establishment. The scrunched painted canvases were fixed directly on site in the window frames. In keeping with my artistic output, the works in this intervention prompt reflection on the site’s history, where both colours and canvas act as tools of remembrance to commemorate the factory's now-defunct activity.

Realizzata durante una residenza a PADA Studios nell'estate 2019, questa installazione indaga il rapporto tra la tela, impiegata come supporto pittorico, e l’architettura del paesaggio industriale di Barreiro (Portogallo). Barreiro era un tempo sede di una grande società industriale oggi non più esistente. Attualmente, la città è circondata dai resti di un vecchio parco industriale, i cui complessi storici comprendono anche un'ex fabbrica di vernici. Si tratta di un'enorme rete di edifici di cemento decadenti, che oggi si presta perfettamente agli interventi site-specific di artisti locali e dei residenti di PADA. I dipinti sono stati installati all'interno delle finestre di alcuni edifici sparsi per lo stabilimento. Le tele dipinte e accartocciate, sono state fissate direttamente sul posto nelle cornici delle finestre. Restando in linea con la mia produzione artistica, le opere di questo intervento sollecitano una riflessione sulla storia del sito, dove i colori e la tela diventano strumenti di memoria per ricordare l'attività storica della fabbrica ormai in disuso.
